Mint Vodka Lemonade
Mixed by: Sanna
Don’t you hate that feeling when your immigrant mother asks, “When are you getting married?” Well, this cocktail can help with that. It turns that bitter feeling into a sweet-and-sour feeling instead. Even better, it’s super-easy to make! How easy? Easier than finding a life partner, apparently.
Recipe
Mint Vodka Lemonade
Ingredients
1½–2 litres lemonade (canned, bottled, freshly squeezed, you decide)
8–12 fresh mint leaves
1 litre vodka (substitute gin if you prefer)
2 lemons or limes
Directions
Grab your favourite lemonade from the grocery store and some sprigs of fresh mint. Pick up a microwaveable daal for one while you’re there.
When you get back to your empty apartment, put the lemonade in a pitcher with mint leaves and give it a stir.
Chill the lemonade for at least an hour. While you wait, you can peruse your marriage options on a South Asian dating app.
Add the vodka, stir and serve over ice. Salt the rim with your mother’s grandchild-less tears if you like.
That’s it! This is a perfect cocktail any time of the day: on a sticky Indian afternoon or a balmy Indian evening when your mother calls to remind you that you are all alone.
